Postpartum Depression in Kazakhstan: How the British Experience Could Change the Situation?

In Kazakhstan, around 60% of women experience postpartum depression after giving birth. These figures are comparable to rates in countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, and South Africa. In society, this condition has almost become normalized: women rarely speak about what they are going through and often do not seek help. Although free psychological support is available in the country, it remains largely ineffective. The United Kingdom, however, has addressed this issue through a national program that includes mandatory screening, online therapy, and a comprehensive support system extending even to family members. Experts believe that adopting such an approach could greatly benefit Kazakhstan.
