On Motivation, Aliens, and Wooden Toys: How People with Special Needs Are Employed in Kazakhstan

There are 737,400 people with disabilities living in Kazakhstan, accounting for 3.6% of the country's total population. More than half of them are of working age. Nevertheless, many still face significant challenges in finding employment. Some employers are hesitant to hire people with special needs due to perceived responsibilities, others underestimate their abilities, and sometimes the applicants themselves do not respond to job openings out of fear of rejection. We spoke with entrepreneurs to find out what it takes to improve employment opportunities for people with special needs in Kazakhstan.
