In 2007, the UN General Assembly adopted a special resolution calling for greater public attention to the challenges faced by people with autism. The goal was to foster understanding and increase support for those affected. Back then, autism was diagnosed in only one out of every 100,000 children — but the situation has changed drastically.
In Kazakhstan, 3,568 children were diagnosed with autism in 2019, and by 2024 that number had risen to 12,456. Each child with special needs represents a unique story. These children, along with their parents and caregivers, are in urgent need of support. This article highlights one of the most pressing social issues today — and explores potential solutions.
