Kazakhstan ranks 19th out of 178 countries for teenage suicide rates. In the first four months of this year alone, 89 teenagers died by suicide. Over the past three years, the number of teenagers experiencing depression has risen by 66%.
These figures are an alarming sign of a serious social crisis. Ignoring children's mental health means putting them at risk.
Did you know that just six years ago, Kazakhstan was considered the most successful country in Central Asia in combating teenage suicides? What has changed? How can we increase the effectiveness of school psychologists? And what measures can help save children’s lives? These questions are explored in the special report by Marzhan Zhumabay.
