Oksana Akulova

Oksana has been in the profession for 20 years, focusing on social issues, particularly in the field of medicine. She enjoys finding compelling individuals and sharing their stories.
She is the creator of the concept and author of longreads for several projects with the online magazine Vlast: "Waiting List," which explores organ transplantation in Kazakhstan, "The Question of Life and Death," which discusses severe diagnoses and palliative care. She is also the co-author of the project "Vaccination: What You Wanted to Know but Were Afraid to Ask."
Oksana co-authored the film "Waiting List," which was produced in collaboration with Kanat Beisekeyev and Kairat Nurmukhametov.
She received the Union of Journalists Award for a series of publications about Almaty residents who were underage prisoners of fascism. Their recollections formed the basis of the book "It Still Hurts...".
