With fashion trends changing rapidly, many brands now release new collections weekly instead of seasonally. The fast-fashion business model — built on quick production and low prices — has become dominant. Cheap clothes wear out quickly, and constantly shifting trends fuel the urge to buy more. As a result, people discard about 60% of their clothing within a year of purchase.
In Kazakhstan, there are collection points that accept used but wearable clothing — items are resold or given to those in need. But what happens to clothes that are too worn to be reused? Where does truly unwearable clothing go?
