People facing cancer often find themselves in an information vacuum, due to the heavy workload and shortage of doctors and psycho-oncologists. One possible solution is peer counselling — survivors share their experience with those who are just beginning their journey. "Peers" help patients navigate the treatment process by providing verified information and emotional support. This article tells the story of Kazakhstan’s first peer counselling school in oncology, which opened in September 2024.
