Semey is a city of unique historic buildings and cultural heritage. Famous writers once lived here. If all of this were brought together into a single, attractive whole, it could draw the tourists we hear about more and more in recent years. But while cultural heritage receives attention, what is happening to the physical monuments? They stand in ruins or need significant investment, which makes them economically unprofitable, and the land beneath them matters more. What does it take to restore an architectural monument and make it an adornment of the city?
