Wastewater from the city of Taraz is discharged into the only temporary filtration field near the city. Built in 1962, the facility is now in critical condition. With a surface area of about 200 hectares, it was designed to handle 43,000 cubic metres of wastewater per day. However, it currently receives between 70,000 and 80,000 cubic metres daily.
