More than four thousand people in Kazakhstan are waiting for an organ transplant today. According to doctors, about 300 patients on the waiting list die every year because of the donor shortage, and roughly the same number join the list annually. The severe lack of organs forces patients to turn to the black market or look for a transplant abroad.
